Nyquil ...a cure all??? Gimme a break!

I feel somewhat livid about people saying NyQuil is a cure all. I wish it was so that the magic green liquid would cure anyone in one easy gulp. No so my friends! I have tried it yet another time and found it to be ineffective at curing my cold. However successful at making me feel rather drugged! (and giving me WEIRD dreams) I turned to the walk in clinic this morning to bring relief into my life. Along with the 2 other patients (Emma and Erik), we piled into the car for our 3 for 1 doctors visit. We came out with 3 diagnosis's, and 2 prescriptions. Mamma has sinusitis, Erik has -yet again, ear infections, and lill' Emma has tonsillitis. Emma is more less fine, actually had her looked at for headaches?, but found out she has tonsillitis. (Not gonna worry about her) Erik is crabby, dripping snot over everything while he coughs up a lung as he plays. Me, well my nose is raw, head is clogged and throat sore. I am keeping hope alive for a nap or good night's sleep, if that fails the wish of a better tomorrow is always there!

How can a stupid cold make someone so miserable! I am thoroughly, completely, utterly convinced man was never EVER meant to be sick! It is all wrong.

Slightly convicted I sit and write this blog. Thinking of my friend Connie's "thankful" blog. I think mine would be my complaining blog today..........no I think it a mixture of complaining and venting. But regardless. I will now clear my conscience, and remind myself of the good things.
Thank you Lord

............it only took an hour and a half at the doctor's office today. (could have taken twice that long)

...........for Walgreens, drive thru pharmacy (and All the Swedes laugh)
...........for Julia's teacher at school, who cares alot about her progress (great Parent Teacher conf. today)
...........for the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks that has truly blessed me this season. (if anything heals all things I would put money on the Latte over NyQuil any day)

...........that we are NOT going to be sick forever, and that Your healing is ours today.

............Soon today is over and the Mercy will be new in the morning.

So thank you for enduring this blog. It was like my pity party, slap on the wrist and kick in the butt all in one!

A bully and a racist

How can it be?

My loving darling, angel-like son. Who- by the way, at this very moment is hand feeding me pretzels, is a bully and a racist! Yes, you heard correct! I am not sure what is going on here but Erik is the class bully at the moment! Breaks my heart that he beats other children up at church and I guess I should feel worse for all whom fall on the receiving end of Erik's behavior. Well, to make matter more complex, today I was (very kindly I may add) informed that Erik could have racist tendencies. He only was getting rough with the "black kids". Our guess is there is a fascination with skin tone, p.s Erik doesn't have much tender loving in him. So that equals allot of "Erik-NO! LOVE, Erik.....NO, LOVE..NICE!!!"So this is our current parenting challenge. Might be face painting the girls up as colored children as a learning tool here soon. I wonder what the Nanny would say about that!

Those are my thoughts for today! Now on to cleaning the Mr. Freeze mess off the floor!

Oh happy day.....

Caught not taught

Don't let the moment pass you by!

I sat yesterday and listened to our Pastor in Tulsa, Pastor Billy Jo Daugherty at a staff meeting. I felt the Lord remind me I was in a unique moment. One that is rarely had but when experienced and caught will be a life long lesson. For those that have heard on the news the ORU lawsuits and all the happenings around it you have heard a part of what is going on. President Richard Roberts stepped down temporally and Pastor Billy Jo will be acting president and Chancellor Oral Roberts will be back in a leadership role too. Thru a dark time Pastor stood and addressed us all about the situation. I can't imagine what it is like for any of the leaders I have named above, to shoulder what they do. The grace and humbleness which I Pastor Billy Jo has handled the events of the past weeks. Truly has been a life lesson. I realized that this lesson is caught not taught. I will watch the lesson of servant hood, humbleness and forgiveness be walked out, not just "taught out". Maybe that is why it is hard to express in writing how or what it was that affected me.

I choose to learn everyday. My classroom being the pathway which I walk. My teachers are those God has placed in my life. Family, friends, bosses, Pastors, mentors. All unique and none better than the other. All have something to give. Learn each day, take the lesson to heart grow and change.

Don't miss what God wants you to learn TODAY!

I can't believe I said it

I could rattle off a bunch of "you know you have lived in Oklahoma to long when" sayings which I think I have a good stash of. But I am to tired. I felt the need to share with my readers what I have done.

I used the word "fixin'" today. I said to Peter that "Erik is........(and the only word my head would give me is "fixin",)...fixin' to burn his hand". I said it cuz I truly couldn't think of another word.Sigh. what is next people am I going to cut off the TV??? And all the Swedes say "ugh???"Never mind. Southern slang lang. lesson to come. Stay tuned.

I give up ya'll , I am fixin' to go to bed. Good Night!

Emma's interpretation of straightening things up!

This is a 3yr old's interpretation of straightening up the shoes. This is proof to any parent who thinks that thier 3yr old is able to preform the task they ask alone, .........and get the result THEY wanted! All I could do is smile, take a picture and tell her thank you for straightening up the shoes. After the weekend I have had, I think God looked down and smiled as only He could knowing that was just what I needed! A little comic relief!

Jim and Pam forever

At a loss for a title so it will be ode to The Office.

What a day, I ran around Tulsa randomly dropping off our family thru out the city and picking them up again. Peter went to the ER. A meningitis scare, which turned out to be a really expense trip to find out it was a Sinus infection! Sigh.

I wish someone would have caught my park incident on tape. I would be a You Tube star right now. I was sitting sideways on one of those spring loaded animals the kids ride on. I start to rock a little thinking that was relaxing or something?? I lose my balance and think "It's OK, surely they CANT bend all the way back to the ground?"Then as I am falling ALL the way back to the ground, I am half on the ground and half feet in the air I think surely this has can't bend sideways. I have no balance left and think sideways -Yes- shift weight! I did so. And me and my jean shirt went flat on my back! I , of course tried to lay as still as possible and pretend I was trying to be funny for the kids. Yeah I think my Chinese neighbor saw it all and was a bit shell shocked. Poor guy. Today I can be thankful for the fact my hubby came home from the ER. And that I wore leggings under my skirt.

The other good thing is my birthday is around the corner and we are actually going to do something "RAD". I use the word "rad" to tease John and Julia a little. That is not my word but theirs. We have almost nailed it down, a weekend trip to San Diego baby! Leaving the kiddies behind! Ahh, feels weird actually. People really can travel with out 7 bags and 2 cars seats and a stroller? It will take a while to sink in but 48 hours of child free fun!

I am utterly, thoroughly giddy that the OFFICE is back on!

Jim and Pam forever!

Random thoughts...

I have been out and about shopping for myself who is shrinking and my kids who doing the opposite! My random thoughts are worth blogging I guess.

As I walk through the little girls department and take note of the training bra section. What happened to the traditional triangle training bra? WHEN and WHHHHYYY was it replaced with a PADDED under wire?? At that age and size what is the reasoning behind that? I am guess this is the birthing ground for insecurity, starting place for self-esteem problems, the foot hold of the devil himself, into the innocent soul of the young girls. What is the society doing? They know all right, and they are pushing it as hard and fast as they can. Why are parents allowing it? Because they are in blind denial or they are unconscience!

REVOLT my friends to the stripping of all that is innocent and pure!

It is really not about BRAS! This is a simple wake up call! Be not transformed ! NOT TRANSFORMED into this culture and world's mold. It is ever downsizing, squeezing the God-life out of you! Take out every foot hold of the world's way of thinking. If not for YOUR sake but for all those who you might have a "hint" of influence on!
